Kaiseizan Park

This park was completed as an urban park at the beginning of Meiji Era with a focus on Lake Isuzu, which was prepared as a pond for irrigation. The cherry trees planted along the bank are one of the prominent beauty spots in Fukushima Prefecture, showing 1,300 trees in all. In 1992, as the cradle of Asaka pioneering, a monument "Tribute to Frontiersmen" was erected. It is a symbolic park for Koriyama citizens and very popular among the residents. Admirable roses flower in early summer in the rose garden.

Ouse Park

This park provides you with an observatory where you can enjoy the whole view of the urban district as well as Japanese garden and Herb garden where you can appreciate flowers all around the year in the site of 32.5 ha (as large as 6 Tokyo Dome). They hold a study course to enjoy gardening as to communicate with greenery and flowers at Fukushima Prefectural General Greening Center, promoting the greening enterprise.

Asakayama Park

You will see a low hill when you go along a row of pine trees in Hiwada showing the traces of the old Ohshu Trail toward the north. This is Asakayama that used to be composed as a noted place in many old poems. Matsuo Basho, a renowned poet, visited this mountain appeared in Manyoshu with interest. It now serves as the Nature Park for children, and a sight of cherry blossoms and azaleas.

Gohyakubuchi Park

Gohyakubuchi Park was built for the pond of irrigation, and cherry blossoms are in full broom all over the whole neighborhood in April. It is a paradise of wild birds because the natural forests are breathing in Gohyakubuch Pond and its surroundings. Reeds in the pond are suitable for the nest of birds, so swallows come flowing in the summertime and ducks in winter.?

Seseragi Komichi, a narrow path along the murmuring brook

Hayama Park

This park is in the cultural zone of the city and used to be a riding ground of Prince Nagayasu Tanba, a head of the former Nihonmatsu Clan. The Japanese garden has Benten Pond reflecting old pine trees, and it is a refreshing place for citizens as well as "Hayama Waterfalls", a historical place for Asaka Pioneering.?

Mt. Takashino Forest Park

Yamanami View Place is on the top of the mountain. Go up the hiking course within the forest-park and get there. You can get a fine view of the whole city. Bungalows and camping sites are situated on the slope facing the southwest. The best facilities for outdoor sport are prepared.?

Uneme Park(Yamanoi Park)

This is the birthplace of Uneme Legend in Katahira Town. Princess Haru was Uneme for the Imperial Court, and her sad love story was told from generation to generation. "Spring-water of Yamanoi" is told to be the place where the princess threw herself into the water.

Kaguike Park

In old days, this area was called "Mt. Kaku". Since this pond was situated in the mountain, it was called "Kakuike, or Kaku Pond". Later, it was utilized as a pond for irrigation, and now it is very popular as a park.?

Otsuki Park

This is a sports park of 27.7ha surrounded by Nature. There are many play systems including a sports square with night illuminations and a trim course with a jungle gym over a mountain. Particularly, super-riders (slider) of 210 m are very popular among them. In fall, many people visit this park to have Imoni-kai, an outdoor cooking of potato soup as a place where all the family members can commune with nature.?
